Like Edward Gein,
Erik Boker admits to being inspired by taxidermy as well as medical journals.
Unlike Gein, Boker has chosen commercial products as his media, presenting
objects in unexpected ways, inviting the viewer to evaluate their relationship
with the subject. When asked about his influences he gives a laundry list: “Artifact. Ephemera. Anthropology. Frank Zappa. Kurt
Vonnegut. Mark Dion. Martin Kippenberger. John Prine. Charlie White. John
Kricfalusi. Harold from Harold and Maude. A good story...”
